Top Stars join the Srixon Players Staff
GRAEME MCDOWELL – The reigning US Open champion and world number six has signed a deal to use the Srixon Golf Clubs and Srixon Golf Balls throughout the world.
Srixon Sports have also announced the addition of two leading, young, up and coming International Stars to play with it’s Z-STAR Golf ball range + a new and already well established one.
RYO ISHIKAWA – The Japanese teenage sensation, currently ranked Number 31 in the Official World Rankings will be playing balls from the Z-STAR range Internationally.
Ishikawa is truly one of the fastest rising stars of International Golf and is a huge boost for the Company and it is hoped he will have a major sales impact on Z-STAR ball sales throughout Asia especially at this early stage
He only turned Pro in 2008, after becoming the youngest player in Japanese Pro golf history to win, as an Amateur, the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup in May 2007, when he was only 15 years of age.
He won in his first year on tour in 2008, finishing 5th in the Order of Merit and then burst on the scene in 2009, winning 4 times in Japan and becoming the youngest player ever to win their Order of Merit and he also became the youngest player ever to play in The Masters.
He has already excited galleries both in America and Britain with his 300 yard + drives and his aggressive pursuit of birdies and expectations are very high for this young Japanese phenomenon, who is very excited about his switch to Z-STAR.
SHANE LOWRY – The 22 year old Irishman gained International recognition in May 2009 when he won the 3 Irish Open as an Amateur, only the 3rd amateur ever to win on the European Tour.
In the process he shot 62, the lowest ever amateur score on tour and at the time of turning pro, the week after his triumph he had a handicap of +5.3.
Since then he has finished 3rd in the Dunlop Phoenix event in Japan and had a very credible 4th place finish in Abu Dhabi in January this year, which enabled him to enter the top 100 of the world rankings.
Shane will not only be playing the Z-STAR range of balls, but will use a Srixon Tour bag, accessories, cap, glove and will also use Cleveland Wedges.
SOREN KJELDSEN – The 34 year old Danish golfer is currently ranked 41 in the World. A Cleveland Golf contract player, Kjeldsen will be playing the Z-STAR ball.
He won the 2009 Open de Andalucia and was 6th in the USPGA.
In 2008 he won the Volvo Masters and in total has had 3 European Tour wins + a victory on the Challenge Tour.
On the European Tour, SRIXON Z-STAR balls are already used by Miguel Angel Jimenez, David Howell, Gonzalo Fernandez Castano, Hennie Otto, Mark Brown, Bradley Dredge and Chapchai Nirat and for 2010 new names added to the list are expected to include Oskar Henningsson, Stephen Jeppesen, Julien Quesne, Julien Gurrier, James Ruth and Richard McEvoy.
